A perfect example of this battle is on the par five 14th. A sharp dogleg to the right dares golfers to cut the corner over the trees and play for the green in two. If you are successful you will have a great shot at eagle, but few are successful.The trees extend further out into the fairway than golfers generally assume and most attempts to cut the corner result in a lost ball and a lot of work left for bogie.

The smart strategy is to hit an easy 225 yard shot up the middle to the turn. Play an aggressive fairway wood for your next shot and let your short game work its magic.
